This is a one-of-a-kind art piece that fuses jeans—a classic of Western workwear—with the traditional Japanese textile techniques of Boro and Sashiko. Using faded denim that has aged beautifully over many years as a base, we applied a patchwork of antique indigo-dyed fabrics that have survived an extraordinary amount of time. The hand-sewn Sashiko stitching, applied meticulously stitch by stitch, breathes new strength into the fabric and creates a unique, three-dimensional texture. Rooted in the culture of cherishing belongings by carefully mending tears and frays, these are special, lifelong jeans that will continue to evolve beautifully alongside the distinctive fades and creases (atari) of the denim.
