We are now selling indigo dyed sashiko thread.
The raw material is the pigment found in the leaves of the indigo plant, which has been condensed into a compost-like substance called sukumo, and the dye solution is prepared and each skein is dyed with indigo.
The indigo dye is applied in multiple layers to the plump sashiko thread with a moderate amount of fuzz remaining, which increases its strength and makes it durable. By leaving unevenness rather than dyeing it evenly, a three-dimensional effect is created when stitching. We offer deep indigo and step dyeing, in which indigo is layered over light blue, light blue, indigo and yellow threads dyed differently depending on the condition of the indigo vat and the number of times they are dyed.
